Sheds and garages are instant solutions to your storage problem. If you want to build your own shed or garage, you can plan your own design and have them custom-made according to your specifications. If you do not have time to wait, you can easily purchase a ready-made one from a hardware or shed retailer or order online. If you have not decided how you want your shed or garage to be, here are the things you need to know:

Size. Size matters. Ask yourself if it would fit the site. Then have a look inside to check its capacity. Would it be a good enough size to fit the stuff I need to store? It is always better to buy something a little bit bigger than what you need. You will never know if you need more space in the near future. When buying a garage, you should keep in mind the width, height and length of the vehicle you are going to park inside. Do not buy a garage that would be too snug for your car. Make sure you can easily close and open the doors when you are inside and have some space to work on your car.

Material. Is it made of plastic, wood, or metal? All of them are durable; if not they would not be put out on the market. Apparently, wood looks much better than the rest and it is more versatile and easier to customize. It is the maintenance, though, that could be a little hard – painting, replacing parts and shingles, termite control and more. Metal is not as visual appealing as plastic and wood, but it does its job. It is the easiest to maintain out of the three. Plastic on the other hand is the easiest to assemble and disassemble and does not require wall paint. If you compare all of these models side by side, you’ll notice that each of them has their own strengths and weaknesses. It is up to you to decide which one has the best qualities you need.

Price. The cheapest we have come across so far would have to be metal sheds and garages. Sheds, of course, are cheaper than garages because of their size differences, but just to give you an idea, sheds cost between $200 and $3000. Garages are sold from the mid thousands to $10,000, more or less. Most of these products, if not all, offer warranty and free delivery. If you want a quality, custom-built shed or garage, you may ask for a price quote from the manufacturer or builder.
